When I first came to know the Lord
and His love and forgiveness, it was an exciting time. I knew
nothing of church politics, church growth, Christian apathy, or fear
of sharing the Gospel with those around me. Being part of the
CPE team to visit friends and relatives of the Vila Emma Church in
Sao Paulo, Brazil was a similar exciting experience. All that
would stand in the way of sharing the Gospel was moved aside.
God showed us that in this 21st century, regardless of the current
literature that seeks to make Christianity more user friendly, God
is still reconciling people to Himself through His Son.
What would happen here in Canada if my church made lists of all our lost friends and relatives; the whole church prayed for them; and then we formed teams with another church and made appointments to visit and share the Gospel? I know what happened in Brazil. One hundred and thirty-three people prayed to receive the Lord and made appointments to begin follow up Bible Studies.
Through years spent in Evangelism
Explosion 111 under Pastor Dan McIver, I learned to share a clear
Gospel presentation. During this training under CPE, we
learned to use questions to find out what God is doing or has done
in people's lives as part of sharing the Gospel. How could I
have ever thought that God Almighty was not active in the lives of
His unsaved people? I had been acting like the Gospel depended
only on us Christians. Each person had a unique story of God
revealing himself to them. I do not have the words to describe
my time in Brazil. Thank you all for this amazing opportunity to go. |
