Who We Are

We are the Church Partnership Evangelism (CPE), a short- term missions ministry with a long-term impact.  We give your church a powerful tool for evangelism, discipleship, and church planting in the mission field.  Church Partnership Evangelism aims to make disciple-making disciples and plant church-planting churches.  Our strategy is to equip you in evangelism, discipleship, and cell or church planting, and then to engage you in the task.

Our Purpose

Church Partnership Evangelism mobilizes churches to equip and engage their people in evangelism, discipleship, and church planting. This results in making disciple-making disciples and planting church-planting churches throughout the world. (Read more in Who We Are.)

Our Strategy

We provide just-in-time training in ministry exercises that catalyze, and then model this engaging ministry. (Read more in How We Do It.)

Our Form of Evangelism

Our evangelism is dialogue in nature and reflects our confidence that God, through His Spirit, is working ahead of us to prepare people for the truth.  Through dialogue and  the filling of the Holy Spirit, we learn to listen to what He is doing in people's lives, and we find an opening to present Jesus Christ in that setting.

We emphasize sin and judgment, because Jesus already told us that this is where the Spirit is at work---convicting men and women of sin, righteousness, and judgment.

We're not just an evangelistic ministry.  In the course of our ministry, we initiate those who make professions of faith in a discipleship course led by the lay person who brought them to the Lord Jesus.

Dialogue Evangelism

Our approach to evangelism begins with one key understanding.   We believe that God's Holy Spirit is already active in the lives of those we seek to bring to the Lord Jesus.  We are certain that wherever we arrive, the Holy Spirit is already at work there.  In particular, we believe that the Holy Spirit is at work in all people convicting them of sin and awakening the need for righteousness and judgment.  Every false faith or religion, no matter how much in error, is a token of the good work of the Holy Spirit.  One's religious efforts and ideas are the product of a response to the good work of the Holy Spirit.

We also believe that the Christian, filled with the Holy Spirit, can be used by God to complete the Holy Spirit's  ministry by bringing the witness of Jesus Christ and His Gospel before those whose spirit is under conviction.

With this in mind, we don't believe that it is always necessary to confront directly the false religions and belief systems men and women have.  Instead, our approach is to recognize the Spirit's impulse in people and ask them questions accordingly.  We ask questions that allow them to tell us how God is at work in their lives, and how they are sensing and responding to His work.

The most important words a person can hear in coming to Christ are not necessarily our words, but their own words.  As they speak truth reflecting the work of  the Spirit in their lives, and as we listen to them, they are softened by our respect and by a reflection upon what God has shown them.  Then, having listened to them, we earn the right to speak truth back into their lives.  We take what they have shared with us and place Lord Jesus and His Gospel alongside their own witness, and at that point a powerful connection is made to their hearts.

Dialogue evangelism calls for:
  • Prayerful preparation of our witness.
  • Witnesses who are filled with the Holy Spirit.
  • Honest questions with an intent to listen to personal answers.
  • An ear to hear what the Spirit is saying into people's lives.
  • A respect for those to whom we seek to win to Christ.
  • A readiness to bring them and their stories near to the story of Lord Jesus and His Gospel.

CPE's evangelism tract includes ten questions meant to be guides into a deeper dialogue through which men and women may be led to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  Each question is a simple "yes" or "no" question, but under each question is a key dialogue question we wish to ask. These questions follow a natural pattern allowing the Gospel to be presented, while at that same time permitting the individuals to be respected and heard.  The approach is simple, Biblical, natural, and wonderfully powerful.  It bears good fruit.

Training DVD

Our Training DVD contains five twenty-minute training sessions that will prepare CPE team members for their work with Church Partnership Evangelism.  Each session leads viewers through the use of a portion of our tract and readies them to engage in Dialogue Evangelism.  Email us for a copy at cpejoel@aol.com.
